This year's wide range of activities offered at various locations of The Great Escape are as follows:

THE GREAT ESCAPE CHARLOTTE AVENUE SUPERSTORE (SAT, 5/3)
-Open at 9 a.m. (1 hour early!)
-Free lessons on how to write and draw cartoons with "Nancy" cartoonist Guy Gilchrist (who has also done numerous other projects, including "Jim Henson's Muppets", his newest strip, "Today's Dogg" and many others) from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. Prior to the cartoon workshop (at 12:30 p.m.), Gilchrist will meet individually with attendees to critique portfolios. He will also be available to do sketches & signings for individuals and will offer original artwork for sale at that time.
- Joel Gibbs, co-director for the Marvel animated features "Iron Man Extremis" and "Thor And Loki- Blood Brothers" for the production company Magnetic Dreams appears at 10 a.m. Gibbs will show part of an "X-Force" motion comic project that has never been seen anywhere else, and discuss the process used for translating comic book stories to animation.
