SAT, 10/28: Meet and Greet with Michael Carter, local comic book creator @ TGE Bowling Green
Hey, everyone-
The Great Escape Bowling Green will have an in-store appearance by Michael Carter, the creator and writer of DDMC Man. He will be in the store on Saturday, October 28th, from noon until 3 p.m. selling issues of DDMC Man #1 and signing autographs.
In 2011, Mr. Carter was diagnosed with Ataxia, a mobility disorder. Instead of letting Ataxia get him down and hinder his lifestyle, Mr. Carter decided to do the opposite, and so he founded Disability Don’t Mean Can’t, a motivational organization that shows people with disabilities that they can overcome any obstacle.
Mr. Carter, now a fitness and motivational instructor, wants to show people that with the right positive attitude anything can be achieved, no matter how difficult or how many times it must be attempted.
As a way to help motivate and inspire people, Mr. Carter created the comic book DDMC Man, in which the hero has Ataxia, much like Mr. Carter. He created the comic to show that not all heroes have to have superpowers, but that a strong will and desire can defeat any stumbling block. Issue #1 was launched in August of 2017, and issue #2 will be available next January.

Large Audiophile LP Collection: Special Preview tonight at The Great Escape Charlotte Avenue!
Just a reminder that tonight, 10/12, in our special events room from 6 - 9 p.m., we are having an early preview of a wonderful collection of audiophile LPs we recently acquired.
There will be over 500 LPs to browse through from labels such as Classic Records, Mobile Fidelity, Analogue Productions, Sheffield Lab, M&K, Groove Note, DCC, and Cisco. There are numerous direct-to-disc, 180 & 220 gram reissues, half-speed masters, Japanese imports, and so much more. The collection includes pop, jazz, blues, and vocal, and almost all of the records are in pristine condition.

We'll have over 500 LPs from labels such as Classic Records, Mobile Fidelity, Analogue Productions, Sheffield Lab, M&K, Groove Note, DCC, and Cisco. There are numerous direct-to-disc, 180 & 220 gram reissues, half-speed masters, Japanese imports, and so much more. The collection includes pop, jazz, blues and vocal, and almost all of the records are in pristine condition. No doubt that this is a audiophile lover's dream come true.
We hope to see you Thursday night, 10/12, and if not, the collection will be in a special section of our LP stock when we open up on Friday morning.

Matt has written for Wolverine, Conan, Motel Hell, and X-Men Unlimited. He is now the writer and creator of the new Image series RETCON.
We would be delighted if you would join us this Saturday, September 23rd, from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., as Matt will meet and greet guests as well as sign copies of his new comic, RETCON. He can also answer any questions you have about breaking into comics, what it was like to write for Wolverine, and how to create your own comic series.

The Nulu History and Haunts Tour is a walking tour about Kentucky’s most haunted street- East Market. Hear about some of the earliest history of the city, as well as the spirits that still linger!

This SAT, 8/19, from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., we will be having a jaw-dropping $1 comic book sale in our special events room at our Great Escape Louisville location.
We will be offering up 1,000s & 1,000s of premium back issue comic book titles (regularly priced between $2.99-$9.99) at the ridiculously low price of $1 each! We will have dozens of boxes of $1 comics from various genres- many of which have never been offered for sale before (having been pulled from our new comics stands or back issue comic backup stock) and many are in like-new, unread condition! (Many are also already bagged & boarded- making them even bigger bargains!)
Also, we’ll be taking 35% off all Back Issue Comic Books, used Trade Paperbacks, Hardcovers & Graphic Novels.* (That's an additional 10% savings over our everyday low price of 25% off on these!) Also included in the 35% off discount will be Sale Comics & Grab Bags.
And, all Collectors' Supplies will be 20% off (an additional 10% off our regular 10% off retail price): Bags, Boards, Dividers, Boxes, etc.
