FRI, 1/27: Free John Schneider Meet And Greet

In continuing The Great Escape's 40th anniversary celebration, we are proud to announce a Meet and Greet with actor and musician John Schneider! John will be appearing in our special events room at our Charlotte Avenue Superstore location starting at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the release of his new album, Ruffled Skirts. He will also talk a little bit about his independent films, his television show The Haves & The Have Nots and whatever else may come up. John will also be bringing his guitar along and play some acoustic samples for the audience. There will be copies of Ruffled Skirts on CD for sale, as well as other merchandise. An autograph will come with any purchase of the Ruffled Skirts CD. John is perhaps most known for his work as Bo Duke on the television show The Dukes of Hazzard. He also played Jonathan Kent on the superhero show Smallville. He had a recurring role on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and was in several episodes of Desperate Housewives.  Currently, John is starring in his fifth season of Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots, which airs on the Oprah Winfrey Network. John is an avid supporter of independent films, and recently concluded a touring film festival that he sponsored. The Cineflix Film Festival toured through four southeastern states, going to places where independent films usually do not show. He released his own film last year, “Like Son,” that he wrote and directed.  During the 1980s, John jumped into the music business and had a string of successful country hits, including four #1 singles on the country charts. These were “I’ve Been Around Enough To Know” (1984), “Country Girls” (1985), “You’re The Last Thing I Needed Tonight” (1986), and “What’s A Memory Like You (Doing In A Love Like This)” (1986). His new album, Ruffled Skirts, has songs that were inspired by the recent floods in Louisiana. His home and studio were severely affected. Book Signing and tribute for Guitarist Wayne Moss at The Great Escape

Just a reminder!!

The Madison Great Escape will host   “A Tribute To Legendary Guitarist Wayne Moss”, at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 25th at 105 N. Gallatin Road.

The event was prompted by the publication of his biography Nashville Cats-The Wayne Moss Story and Moss will sign copies of his book beginning about 8:00 PM.

The tribute program focuses on his varied career in Music City; first as an influential studio musician, then as owner of a recording studio that attracted pop music stars to record in Nashville, and finally as founder of  the successful groups Barefoot Jerry and Area Code 615. 

As part of the activities, he will perform live, recreating a number of his “signature licks,” (the instrumental riffs that instantly defines a song, allowing the listener to immediately recognize it) that have gained him worldwide recognition.

Legendary Guitarist Wayne Moss - Live Performance & Book Signing: WED, 1/25

The staff of the Madison Great Escape takes pride in presenting A Tribute to Legendary Guitarist Wayne Moss

in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of Nashville as a music center AND A book signing on the occasion of publication of “Nashville Cat:  The Wayne Moss Story” Wednesday evening, January 25 at   The Great Escape 105 North Gallatin Road, Madison, TN  Among activities planned for the program beginning at 7:00 PM, Wayne and his band will perform live, recreating a number of his signature “licks” (the instrumental riffs that instantly define a song, allowing the listeners to immediately recognize it) that have influenced professional guitarists worldwide. Wayne will begin signing copies of his book about 8:00 PM. Admission is free, but reservations are recommended, since seating is limited. Purchase of a book, priced at $16.95 and available at both the Madison and Charlotte Avenue Great Escape locations, is not required (although encouraged). We will pay shipping cost on mail orders for this item. Wayne's creativity in record sessions began to attract the attention of artists and producers soon after his arrival in Nashville in 1959. His signature licks are identifiable on dozens (if not hundreds) of records from the '60s including hits by Roy Orbison, Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Eddy Arnold, George Jones, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Charlie Pride, Ray Stevens, Kathy Mattea and many others. His other interests led to the founding of the groups Barefoot Jerry and Area Code 615 and he started his own recording operation, Cinderella Sound Studio, in 1961, attracting such stars as Linda Ronstadt, Steve Miller and others to record in Nashville.
