SAT, 10/26
"Learn To Be A Live DJ" program and workshop.
2 p.m.-4 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to spin discs in a live setting- using old-school methods with two turntables and a bunch of vinyl records? On Saturday, October 26th, one of Nashville's own local DJs, Nerfski, will be giving a lecture and workshop at The Great Escape Charlotte Avenue on the fascinating world of vinyl collectors known as "diggers", how they get samples from records that they've sought out, and how they use these discs to construct entertaining, groove-filled programs in various live settings.

This will be a hands-on, interactive workshop, so space may be limited- so if you'd like to attend, PLEASE RSVP BY SIGNING UP AT ANY LOCATION OF THE GREAT ESCAPE.

ABOUT THE GUESTS:

NEAL ADAMS is a towering figure in the world of comic book creation and art. Neal has had legendary "runs" on Batman, X-Men, Green Lantern-Green Arrow and Deadman. Adams rescued Batman from the campy nostalgia of the television show, and re-fitted him in his present incarnation as an "Avenger of the Night." When people say "modern Batman", they mean Neal Adams' Batman. His run on Batman led directly to the new, more realistic incarnation in "Batman Returns" movie, which featured the character he created, Ras Al Ghul. Neal just did an 8-page story in Batman Black & White #1. Don't miss out on picking one up at the store and having Neal sign it.

NERFSKI is a local, Nashville-area DJ, who lives and breathes the "diggers" lifestyle, starting each day by hitting the record shops in search of vinyl from which to take samples and concepts for his local appearances, including regular performances at Centennial Park. For Nerfski, the search for records and performing as a DJ is more than just a hobby: it's a spiritual quest, and is much akin to the lifestyles shared by fine artists such as painters, poets, etc.
